Rotherham United have had a bit of a busy week but, up to early afternoon on Friday, there is still no news of players signing for the Millers.

Firstly, Season Tickets went on sale on Monday and it seems that more than four thousand fans have either renewed or bought tickets.

Our Carabao Cup game with Accrington Stanley will take place at the New York Stadium on Tuesday, 10th August when it will be a 7.45pm kick-off. And, today, our games in the Papa John’s Trophy have also been announced when Tuesday, 7th September sees the Millers travel to the Keepmoat Stadium where we take on Doncaster Rovers, Tuesday, 5th October is a home game with Scunthorpe United while Manchester City U21’s will be at the New York Stadium on Tuesday, 26th October. All these games have a 7pm kick-off.

The Millers have turned down bids from Ipswich Town for Matt Crooks and it seems a Championship side has also put in a bid for the midfielder.  Personally, I’d be very disappointed if Crooks went to another League One team but would accept him leaving for a team in a higher division.

It also seems Rotherham United have been turned down by Hamilton Academical after the Millers put bids in for defender Hakeen Odoffin. It’s also rumoured that a defender has a U-turn by changing his mind about joining – could this be the same defender? Rotherham are also thinking about renewing interest in Shaun Rooney of St Johnstone.

We have had a trialist goalkeeper training with the Millers. Josh Chapman, recently at Bramall Lane, is hoping to have done enough to earn him a contract at the New York Stadium.

After not having his contract renewed at the end of the season Jamie Proctor has found himself a new club joining Port Vale this week.

So, what do we want to see in the following seven days? Well, I think it’s more of a ‘need’ than a ‘want’ as with two defenders out injured for the start of the season we definitely need to find someone for at least one of those positions. And if we are to lose Crooks or Michael Smith they will also need replacing and, for me, sooner rather than later.
