Rotherham United are back in action after a break due to the FA Cup this weekend when Southampton are the visitors at the New York Stadium.

Coming into this game rock bottom of the Championship the Millers will be hoping to get some much needed points from this game after their last home game ending in a disappointing one-nil loss to Stoke City.

In the top three the Saints could get into second spot if they win and results around them go their way. They got a draw away at Watford in the FA Cup last weekend, their last game in the league away being a three-one win against Swansea City – in fact Southampton haven’t lost away from home since September at the Riverside against Middlesbrough.

Speaking to the Radio Sheffield Millers Head Coach Leam Richardson said that Southampton’s squad of players speak for themselves and, in his opinion, they are one of if not the best team in the Championship. ‘They’ve got international footballers all around the starting eleven who have been coached very well by Russell (Martin) and Gilly (Matt Gill). We’re expecting a really good challenge but one we are looking forward to.

On the final day of the January transfer window Rotherham brought in Andy Rinomhota, Femi Seriki and Charlie Wyke and it’s likely that all these players will be in the squad. Depending on the fitness of Cohen Bramall this afternoon’s staring line-up could be the same as the eleven who started in our one-all draw away at Middlesbrough.

Saints Manager Russell Martin told to their Official Site that no game in the Championship is easy saying, ‘They (Rotherham) make things really difficult, especially at their stadium, but, hopefully, we are prepared for that. We have been on an incredible run and will go there full of confidence.’

January saw Southampton add to their squad fetching in Joe Rothwell and David Brooks with both eligible to play on Saturday with Sam Edozie looking to be in the travelling squad after injury. Kamaldeen Sulemana and James Bree are due back in the next couple of weeks but won’t make this game.

Sunny Singh Gill has the whistle this afternoon.
