Rotherham United welcome Birmingham City to the New York Stadium on Saturday which is bottom place in the Championship taking on twenty-first.

The Millers have a new man in charge after developments this week saw Leam Richardson leave and Steve Evans back at the club. So far Rotherham have got three points from April – a win on April Fools Day at home to Millwall. Their last home game saw them lose one-nil to Plymouth which, finally, relegated them with two away losses following.

Birmingham have found themselves between twentieth place in the table and twenty-third coming into this game one point above the safety zone with six points – two home wins over Preston North End and Coventry City – from the month. City’s last away game saw them lose two-one at Leicester City with another home defeat after that to Cardiff.

Millers Boss Steve Evans told the Official Site, ‘We are taking on a real giant in Birmingham City. I look forward to competing with Gary (Rowett) who I have the utmost respect for, him and his players. But this is the New York Stadium, this is Rotherham and we will look forward to it.’

It’s not thought that the Millers have any new injury worries though it’s also not known if any of the long term injured could be back in contention for this game.

City’s Interim Manager Gary Rowett spoke to Blues TV that, after the three-nil win at home to Coventry last weekend, the confidence levels are up saying,’but we need to go and back that with another good performance. I’m confident the players will go to Rotherham with a real drive and desire to work just as hard as we did on Saturday.’ Asked what his reaction to Steve Evans being announced Rotherham Manager, he replied, ‘damn’ going on to say, ‘I’ve played against Steve lots of times and I know he will bring a lot of energy to the team and certain qualities we will have to be ready for. But, ultimately, it’s about our performance.’

Gary Rowett will probably be without Lukas Jutkiewic out since March and Alfie Chang who has managed just one game this season out with a knee injury. But coming back into the squad could be Oliver Burke and Marc Roberts who have been training all week.

Keith Stroud from Hampshire has the whistle for this game.
