Rotherham United travel to take on Bristol City on Saturday for their last away game of the season.

City start this game in mid-table with fifty-nine points which is twelve places and thirty-five points better off than the Millers.

The Robins last two home games have seen them get a draw against lowly Huddersfield Town and a five-nil win when Blackburn Rovers were the visitors to Ashton Game. Rotherham’s last two away games have both been losses, two-nil against West Bromwich Albion and one-nil at Swansea.

Both teams got draws last weekend, the Millers at home to Birmingham which ended goalless and the Robins got a point with a one-all draw away at Norwich City.

Bristol City’s Head Coach Liam Manning will be wanting their last home game to be positive saying, ‘We’ve had fond memories at home during the season so it’s time to create another one for the final game.

Talking about the game to their Official Site , Liam said, ‘You know with a Steve Evans side you will face an extremely honest hard working group of players who are willing to run and compete and they’ve got some experienced players. They tend to get that little bit of a bounce with a new manager coming and there will be a lot of players that have a point to prove. We have to make sure we turn up and do our work properly and are ready to fight and compete.’

Former Rotherham loanee Zak Vyner is a doubt for this game with a knee injury.  Dire Mebude hasn’t played since the beginning of March but it’s hopeful he will get game time before the end of the season while Jamie Knight-Lebel could be in the squad after recently making his debut for the Robins.

Speaking before the game to the Official Site ahead of the game, Millers Manager Steve Evans said that the players had been working ‘incredibly hard’ before the last away game of the season saying, ‘we are going to a brilliant stadium against a real good opponent who are coached by a good manager. They are a young, hungry side and I believe they should be really contesting for the Premier League this weekend. We have to have a game plan and if we don’t have a game plan that will happen then it’s going to be a long afternoon but I know certain players who will do it but it’s can we get everyone to do it.

‘Home form is absolutely massive in what you will achieve in a season but you need to be capable of going away and getting a win. And it will be good to go into the new season with the statistic that the last away win was 8th November 2022 long gone – it’s a frightening stat and far too long for a team to have not won an away game – but we do know how difficult that will be.’

Steve Evans will be without Cafu and Peter Kioso, who both went off injured last weekend, for his first away game back with the Millers while loanee Charlie Wyke has gone back to his parent club, Wigan Athletic.

Charles Breakspear from Surrey has the whistle on Saturday.
