It was like buses at the New York Stadium – none all day then three arriving almost at once – last night with three loan signings being announced late – very late – on the last day of the transfer window.

First through the door was Andy Rinomhota from Cardiff City who told the Millers X Account that he wants to have a ‘positive influence’ while he’s here. ‘I knew there was interest from Rotherham from the last window,’ the midfielder said, ‘and I spoke with the Gaffer who went over his plans and how he saw me fitting into them.’

Asked about his playing style, Andy said, ‘Robust, energetic, dynamic who likes to get a tackle in and I like to see myself as a box-to-box midfielder. Hopefully I can implement that into the team. I’ve started a few games recently so I think I’m alright match fitness wise.

‘I trained with Cardiff this morning (yesterday) and then drove straight up here which was a bit of a journey but it’s going to be well worth it. I’m looking forward to getting going now, getting as much game time as I can and helping the team.’

On Andy’s heels the Millers then announced the signing of Femi Seriki from Sheffield United.

Asked how the signing came about, the young defender said, ‘I played in the Palace game a couple of nights ago not getting back until four or five am, woke up today and although it took a bit of a long process we got it through.’

The twenty year old signed a new deal with the Blades before joining the Millers on loan and said that the Championship is a ‘really strong place’ for him to be saying that Rotherham Head Coach Leam Richardson had a big influence on him coming to the New York Stadium.

‘Speaking to the Manager is always good,’ Femi said, ‘but listening to him and the way he was speaking to me was all positive and I couldn’t wait to get the deal over the line and I’m excited to be playing against top players. This is the next chapter of my development.’

And what will he bring to the Millers? ‘I’m fast, direct and like to put crosses into the box. I like to attack, I like to defend.’

And last in came Charlie Wyke from Wigan Athletic who says he is delighted to be here.

‘It’s been a mad day. Training at Wigan this morning, driving down the motorway, sitting around for a few hours trying to get this deal over the line but thankfully it’s sorted.

‘I know the manager, know the club very well because I’ve played against them so many times over the last few years and I’ve come here to try and keep the club up.

‘Leam (Richardson) signed me when I left Sunderland and he’s a great guy, very good to work with and I’m looking forward to get training tomorrow and getting going and hopefully we can get a win on Saturday.’

What kind of player is Charlie, ‘I’m someone who gives one hundred per cent every game, give all for my club. And what I’ve been through with this manager he’s someone I want to do well for. Hopefully I can get on the end of crosses and score a few goals for the club and try to keep them in this division.’

All very positive and all seem to want to be here. I, for one, can’t wait to see them in action.
