Rotherham United travel to the Riverside to take on Middlesbrough this weekend in a hope of getting a first away victory since Noah was a lad (or there abouts).

Sitting bottom of the table the Millers come into this game on the back of a one-nil home loss to Stoke City last Saturday while ‘Boro were away at Millwall getting three points in a three-one win.

Comfortably in mid-table Middlesbrough’s last home game was a semi-final first leg Carabao Cup match against Chelsea which they won one-nil while they have also entertained Aston Villa in the FA Cup at the Riverside which was a one-nil loss. Their last home Championship game was on New Year’s Day which they lost three-one to Coventry City.

The Millers last away game was in the FA Cup at Fulham which they slenderly lost one-nil with the New Year’s Day game away at Blackburn Rovers saw them come back twice to get a point from a two-all draw.

‘Boro Head Coach Michael Carrick told their Official Site that this game is as ‘dangerous, tough a game’ as any saying, ‘we’ve got to be ready for the game and respect what they (Rotherham) are fighting for. But we are in a position where we are as desperate for points as anybody else and we need to take that into the game.’

Middlesbrough are hoping that Josh Coburn will be fit for some part in this weekends game but striker Emmanuel Latte Lath won’t make it. Also sidelined are Seny Dieng, Tommy Smith, Anfernee Dijksteel, Darragh Lenihan, Paddy McNair and Alex Bangura while Riley McGree and Sammy Silvera are on international duty.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield ahead of Saturday’s game, Millers Head Coach Leam Richardson is expecting another healthy challenge saying, ‘We’ve just seen them spend millions of pounds on players and loaned players from Leeds United meaning their squad is getting stronger by the day which are challenges we have to meet head on and relish.’

A hip injury to Grant Hall seems to be taking it’s time to heal while Cameron Humphreys, Tyler Blackett and Shane Ferguson won’t make this game. Although there is good news on Peter Kioso who could be in the travelling squad after illness curtailed his first game since returning from a loan spell with Peterborough last weekend.

Lancashire’s Darren Bond has the whistle for this game.
