Millers v Villa Preview

|

Rotherham United make the journey to Villa Park this evening to take on a Villa side who have had a bit of an up-and-down start to the season.

The Millers are yet to get an away point this season while Villa’s last two home games saw them draw both, their only home win coming against Wigan at the beginning of August.

Aston Villa got a late point at Blackburn on Saturday and they are currently twelfth in the table with the Millers one-nil win over Derby sees them two places and one point below.

Rotherham United go into this game with the confidence of the win and the way they played against Derby at the weekend with Assistant Manager, Richie Barker, telling iFOLLOW that he doesn’t think the players will need motivating against Aston Villa who he thinks have got some of the best players in the Championship and is expecting them to finish the season strongly.

The Millers could have Joe Newell back in contention for this evenings game and the good news on Richie Towell is that he went down with cramp on Saturday and not with a hamstring injury which was first feared. Clark Robertson is definitely out with a groin injury as is Sean Raggett who has had surgery on an ankle problem.

Steve Bruce told Villa’s Official Site that he expects his team to be ‘buoyed up’ by the way they played at Ewood Park at the weekend.

Scott Hogan and Keinan Davis are doubts for Steve Bruce’s team but Tammy Abraham, on loan from Chelsea, could get his first home start of the season after impressing at Blackburn on Saturday.

Andy Davies from Hampshire has the whistle for this game with Mark Dwyer and Timothy Wood running the line. The Fourth Official is Anthony Coggins.
