Millers v Rovers Preview

|

Rotherham United make the trip to Ewood Park this afternoon to take on a Blackburn Rovers side who could possibly be in a play-off position at five o’clock this afternoon, although I’m sure Paul Warne’s men will have something to say about that.

Rovers last home game was a one-nil win over Queens Park Rangers last Saturday and while the Millers haven’t won an away game yet this season their last two away games have been draws.

Good news for Tony Mowbray is that a face injury to his first choice goalkeeper David Raya shouldn’t keep him out of today’s game but if he doesn’t make it then Jayson Leutwiler is waiting in the wings. Charlie Mulgrew is expected to have a late fitness test while Corry Evans is difinitely out, suspended after getting five yellow cards.

Former Miller and now Blackburn midfielder Richie Smallwood says that Rovers won’t take the Millers for granted telling the Lancashire Telegraph, ‘They have quality in the dressing room and a really hard working manager andwe need to be respectful of them.’

Rotherham United will be without Will Vaulks who got a fifth yellow last weekend so is serving a match suspension. Also missing are long term injured Darren Potter and Sean Raggett with the Norwich City loanee being about a month away from match fitness. Good news is that both Matty Palmer and Billy Jones will be fit to be included in the travelling squad.

With Millers Boss Paul Warne expecting a tough game at Ewood Park he told iFOLLOW that Blackburn are a really impressive team. ‘Out of the three teams who got promoted they are the shining light,’ Warney said ahead of today’s game. ‘But we go there with confidence.’

The referee today is David Webb from Lancashire.
