Rotherham United have been drawn against Salford City at Moor Lane in the first round of the Carabao Cup which will be the first time the pair have met in this competition.

The Ammies will be starting their second year in League Two when the season commences under manager Graham Alexander and the only other time they have been in this competition was last season when they lost three-nil at Moor Lane to Leeds United.

Salford finished eleventh in League Two last season and have former Millers Richie Towell and Ian Henderson in their squad.

Last season the first round of the Carabao Cup saw the Millers drawn away at Shrewsbury which saw the visitors win four-nil. Matt Crooks and Kyle Vassell put Rotherham two-up in the first three minutes with Freddie Ladapo making it three on the half-time mark from close range. Early in the second half Ladapo and Michael Smith saw Joe Murphy, in the Shrews goal, save their shots but a Richard Wood goal six minutes from time made it four-nil and a second round tie with neighbours Sheffield Wednesday at the New York Stadium.

The first four rounds of this competition are due to take place in September with this first round tie scheduled for Saturday, 5th September.
