Here at Vital Rotherham we are sad to hear of the passing of former Rotherham United forward Richard Dawson.

Born in Chesterfield, Dick came through the junior ranks at Rotherham making his first team debut at the age of seventeen scoring his first goal in just his third appearance in January 1978. He went on to play around twenty-five times in a Millers shirt before moving a few miles up the M18 to join Doncaster Rovers who he helped to promotion to Division Three.

Richard also went on to play for his home club Chesterfield and then Scarborough, Gainsborough Trinity, Kettering Town, Matlock Town and Staveley.

All at Vital Rotherham send our condolences to Richard’s family and friends at this sad time.
