Warne ‘We Dug In For Good Point’

|

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne thought his team were ‘excellent’ in the first thirty minutes of the game but ‘jaded’ by the end of it.

It was a oneā€”all draw against Watford yesterday, both goals coming in the first half with the Millers Boss telling Radio Sheffield that his team ‘hung on’ saying, ‘a point is a good point in this league especially against a good Watford team.

‘I thought we were excellent in the first half-an-hour but thought we gave them the goal by rushing the goalkeeper which is disappointing and we should have defended better. But, up to then, they didn’t really come in our half. I thought we played some good combination play, we were aggressive, got balls into the box, caused them problems and we stopped them from playing out.

‘When they made their subs late on we had some very tired legs. Pelts (Lee Peltier) and Woody (Richard Wood) have played three games in seven days at this level which is very little time to recover. Wilesy (Ben Wiles) has played his one hundred and fiftieth game and I’m well happy with him while (Conor) Washington and Chieo (Ogbene) caused problems. Even Brooke (Norton-Cuffy) was tired and he’s never tired. And I thought we were a bit unlucky with some of the bookings with the referee giving them out like toffees.

‘But, on the whole, we dug in for a good point’
