Vital Rotherham United’s Man of the Month for July/September is Goalkeeper Viktor Johansson.

The Viking joined the Millers two years ago as a free agent after his contract with Leicester City ran out earlier in the summer. Since then he’s made sixty-one appearances in a Rotherham shirt and has kept three clean sheets already this season. Viktor was voted Man of the Match in our goalless draw away at Preston.

In our first match of the season Jamie Lindsay won the Man of the Match which was at home to Swansea the next game being in the Carabao Cup first round away at Port Vale which saw Georgie Kelly and Ollie Rathbone share the votes. Back in the Championship our four-nil home win against Reading was a win for Dan Barlaser which was followed by the Preston game. Rotherham made the journey to Loftus Road to take on Queens Park Rangers in the next game which was another draw, this time one-all, Chieo Ogbene opening the scoring for the Millers and also got the votes on Vital Rotherham. Back to the Carabao Cup and Morecambe were the visitors to the New York Stadium winning the tie in the seventy-second minute when both Jamie McCart and Lee Peltier were joint Men of the Match. Skipper Richard Wood scored both goals in our two-nil home win over Birmingham City and was voted our Man of the Match with our last game of August being a mid-week away match at Sunderland which was our first league defeat of this season. It was difficult to find a Man of the Match in that game but we managed and our Arsenal loanee Brooke Norton-Cuffy was ‘it’.

I think it’s fair to say that so far this season it has been very much a team effort with our Man of the Match votes going to a different player after every game.
