Warne ‘Disappointed’ After Another Away Loss

|

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne was not impressed with the start of this evening’s game at Vicarage Road as well as being disappointed with the two goals that saw Watford win the game.

Speaking after the loss to iFOLLOW the Millers Boss said he thought his team ‘grew into the game’ saying, ‘I thought we were excellent to the man in the second half.’

Not for the first time this season we did start poorly and when the players went in at half-time I was dreading the second half, I thought, on that first half display we were going to get hammered. But, the second forty-five minutes were better but then I question did we actually trouble Watford? Well, maybe once or twice. We were on top for some minutes in the second half but we didn’t make that time pay. Get an early goal back and who knows what might have happened – I don’t think they’d have taken Deeney and Cleverley off.  And we saw the way their two thousand fans started to get on their players’ backs (I bet their players wished they’d not been allowed back in!) had we scored it could have been much worse than that.

‘If we play like we did for seventy per cent of the second half then against any other team we’ll come away with something,’ the Gaffer said.

Sorry, but we won’t come away with something until we get shots on target.

‘I’m disappointed with the result,’ Warney carried on, ‘but not with the performance. And the way we played tonight will put us in good stead for Saturday.’

The way we came out for the second half will but please don’t let’s play like we did in the first half.

Listening to the hapless Warne I am rapidly losing the will to live. His buffoonery can only be explained as reification; he constructs fantasies in his own mind and imparts to them the quality of reality. His assessment of the performance and of the contributions of certain players left several fans – with almost two centuries of watching football between them – baffled. I now believe him to be an idiot. Bigger idiots though are the fans lining up with excuses for him – the same fans who crucified Stubbs for doing no worse.
Those of you who live in the old town perhaps don’t appreciate what other fans think of us. We are stinking out the Championship with our brand of football. We are perceived as a bunch of hoof ball cloggers and the perception is entirely valid. Well done, Warney.

Wud just like t say I bak warney all day long am I an idiot mayb but I see myself a realist, if u expect the miller’s t b any higher than fourth frm bottom come end of season then i question who the real idiot is, 5/6 key players dwn wud hurt any team, boo boys r out in force again, who gets the job then??, on Stewart budget, this is a league 1 club with a lottery ticket in the champs, long old season sit back & enjoy, thank your lucky stars u av a football club. Daz, I hear everything you are saying but just for once wouldn’t it be nice to finish a couple of places higher than fourth from bottom?

I have to say, CinL, I think either the cold had got to him last night or he had his red-and-white tinted specs on and I thought that before he said he thought Crooks had a good game.

  • Daz says:

Caz wud b nice, can’t see it happening, Stewart runs a tight ship just like his lighting co. & will not risk the club for the sake of bad signings, personally I think its worth a couple of risks at champs level even just for a season, majority of squad r more on the development side, will keep saying this we r a league 1 club, champs clubs avrg 20k + in there grounds, & caz my question is who nxt if warney is ousted???

    • Caz Neale (Herringthorpe) says:

Daz, that is my question too – you look around at who is out there then look realistically at who we could afford and there aren’t that many are there.

I was once a big fan of mr stewart for saving the club and building the the new ground but now im not sure having just read the advertiser. his words I will support him i belirve in him he,s got us where we are now. spot on mr stewart one point off the drop zone mr warnes had is time you can spend to long at one club and warnes over stayed his . I dont think a new young manager with fresh ideas would cost the earth.we have had untried managers before so lets do it mr stewart stop backing a loser c in l
