Rotherham United welcome Bristol City to the New York Station when referee Leigh Doughty from Lancashire is in the middle.

After beginning refereeing in 2007, last season was Leigh’s first season as an EFL Referee after being promoted to the National List of Referees after just one campaign in the National League. Leigh was promoted again and he starts this season as a Select Group 2 Championship referee.

This will be the second time Leigh has officiated at a Millers game this season, the first being in September when Millwall were one-nil winners at the New York Stadium.

Before this season Leigh has been in charge of Millers games before the first being in January 2020 at the New York Stadium which saw Bristol Rovers the visitors. Three second half goals from Kyle Vassell, Michael Smith and Chieo Ogbene saw the hosts get all three points with Matt Crooks being the only Millers yellow carded in the game.

He was also at the New York Stadium the following month when MK Dons were the visitors. Freddie Ladapo put the Millers one up on the ten minute mark but twelve minutes later Rhys Healey equalised for the visitors with the game ending one-all in a game which saw Richard Wood and Matthew Olosunde booked.

In the ten games Leigh has been in the middle of this season he has shown thirty yellow cards, one of those to Michael Ihiekwe in September, and one red card.

James Wilson and Philip Dermott have the flags on Saturday while the Fourth Official is Ross Joyce.
