Rotherham United Manager Matt Taylor was ‘really pleased’ after his sides three-one home win over promotion hopefuls West Bromwich Albion.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield the Millers Boss said, ‘We’ve not had many games this season that we’ve dominated.’

That is right. Even when we’ve been winning in past games it’s as though we are waiting for the opposition to score – but not today. We went one down and the heads kept up, the red shirted men kept going forward and thoroughly deserved the three points.

Carrying on, Matt said, ‘We were the stronger team, the better team and created the better opportunities but found ourselves one down which was a big blow to take. Jordan’s (Hugill) goal was a big moment and from that point on we got stronger and stronger.

‘That score line didn’t flatter us against a really good team. It’s three points in the bag and we’ve got a bit of a free hit on Monday where nobody will expect anything from us at Norwich bar ourselves.

‘The players were feeling comfortable with their own game and while West Brom have always got a threat about them we kept them at arms length and created the better chances.’It was an attacking performance and we created so many chances and I thought our back-line were proper today and that gives us a platform which allows us to be a better attacking team. The game had everything hitting the woodwork, a goal line scramble, a potential handball, a penalty and hopefully the players – and the fans – are happy.’

Oh, we are Matt, we are!

Ollie Rathbone was greeted with standing applause when he came off the bench and, as his manager says, was in the action straight away. ‘He was all over the pitch,’ the Millers Boss said. ‘He got whacked on the head and ended up with a thick lip. We need his energy, his enthusiasm and he linked up with T (Tariqe Fosu) for the third goal. We’ve certainly missed him the last four weeks or so.

‘Shane (Ferguson) is massive for us with his deliveries from his left foot and Chieo (Ogbene) has pace and his athleticism down the left while it’s important that Jamie Lindsay keeps getting up the pitch as well.

Of course it wouldn’t be the Millers without some bad news. Bailey Wright went down and after treatment was helped from the pitch appearing at the opening to the tunnel in the second half in a boot and on crutches. It appears he heard a crack when he went down. That’s not sounding good.
