The Stats – Millers v Baggies

Rotherham United got three points in the early afternoon kick-off at the New York Stadium despite going a goal behind.

But what do the stats say?

Firstly they tell us that West Bromwich Albion had more possession than the Millers – fifty-five per cent to forty-five. (Hmm, not sure about that myself). Rotherham, however won fifty-nine per cent of the duels and fifty-four per cent in the air.


Of the eleven corners in the game the Millers had eight while our passing accuracy came out at sixty-five per cent and fifty-eight per cent in our opponents half, with the Baggies getting sixty per cent.


In attack we had a whopping twenty-three shots at goal, with ten on target (posts, crossbars and some good saves from the goalkeeper stopped us scoring more than the three goals we got and of those shots eighteen came from inside the box. West Brom got five shots on target from ten.


Our tackle success rate came out at fifty-five per cent, Albion’s being twenty-nine per cent and we conceded thirteen fouls to our visitors’ eleven. There were six yellow cards shown of which two went to Rotherham.


Was there’s a pen? Should we have had a pen? Well, luckily it didn’t matter.

What the stats don’t tell us is what an absolutely brilliant team performance it was today – well done Millers!
