Rotherham United Manager Matt Taylor said it was ‘an incredible’ effort from his team after they’d gone down to ten men.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield the Millers Boss said he was pleased with large parts of the performance today saying, ‘When you go down to ten men it’s important that you get something to show for your efforts. Bodies on the line, resilience, incredible effort from the whole group.

‘I thought we kept Hull at arms length for the majority of the game. Viktor (Johansson) made one save in the first half which was actually a foul on Chieo (Ogbene) in the first half but we didn’t quite make the most of our attacking opportunities and we had enough set-pieces to maybe hurt a little bit more. I thought our delivery from set-pieces was excellent today from Shane Ferguson in the first half and Conor Coventry and Domingos when he came on in the second. But after the red card we were holding on a little bit.

‘I can’t fault the intent and the effort today and we’ve got to give it everything going into the final games of the season.’

Asked about the red card which Domingos Quina received after being on the pitch for less than ten minutes, Matt said, ‘It was a counter-attack after Domingos had taken our set-piece which showed he was thinking the right thing with his recovery run. And he had to try and make the block and the red card was the right decision. The referee also made the right decision when he gave the free-kick outside the box. This will heighten his hunger to keep on improving and really affect our run-in.’

Injury wise Tyler Blackett has a hamstring problem while Ollie Rathbone has now had an injection on a troublesome groin injury which has kept him out for some weeks and he will be looked at going into the Easter games.
