Rotherham United won a point away at Hull City yesterday in a goalless draw – but what do those stats tell us?
The Millers had thirty-two per cent of possession at the MKM Stadium and although City had much more I’d say quite a lot of that was spent passing the ball between themselves in defence. Rotherham won forty-nine per cent of the duels with forty-six per cent of that being in the air. Corners were shared at eight apiece.
Our passing accuracy came out at sixty-seven per cent with the Tigers having eleven per cent more (again, are we counting the tippy tappy stuff at the back?) and our accuracy at passing in our opponents half was fifty-seven per cent.
In attack we had four shots, all of which were from inside the box, of which none were on target with City having one on target from fourteen.
Rotherham’s tackle success rate was fifty-four per cent and we conceded fourteen fouls to Hull’s seven. The Millers got all the cards yesterday – two yellow and one red.
I do think when we went down to ten men all our players stepped up in defence and there was even time for Conor Washington to get away from his marker and have a shot, albeit from a tight angle which saw the ball go wide. And, it was a clean sheet – which, in my book, is always good away from home.
*For some reason we only appear to have six subs, the same as Hull, coming up. I can definitely tell you that Conor Washington was on the subs bench and came on for Ogbene on 9-+1 minutes.
