Smudge Named Player Of The Year

Rotherham United have named striker Michael Smith their Player Of The Season for 2020/1.

Smudge joined the Millers from Bury in the summer of 2017 while also playing for Darlington, Charlton Athletic, Swindon Town and Portsmouth while having loan spells at various clubs. This last season he top scorer at Rotherham with ten goals, his hundredth league goal coming in March against Bristol City, while also having three assists to his name.

Other awards at the New York Stadium saw skipper Richard Wood get the PFA Community Player of the Season award, Freddie Ladapo‘s cracking winner at Hillsborough saw him get the Goal Of The Season while the Players’ Player Of The Season trophy went to goalkeeper Viktor Johansson.

The Supporters’ Player Of The Season went to defender Wes Harding who came to the New York Stadium last summer from Birmingham City going on to make forty-eight appearances in a Rotherham shirt, getting for assists to his name, while also getting his first cap for Jamaica earlier this month playing the whole ninety minutes in a friendly against Serbia.
