Crooks A Wanted Man

Rotherham United midfielder Matt Crooks seems to be the latest player ‘wanted’ by other sides.

It was reported last week that Ipswich Town were interested in the twenty-seven year old and today it appears that Derby County, who stayed in the Championship by the skin-of-their-teeth last season, are also being linked with Crooks.

Now, as far as I am aware, the Rams are under a transfer embargo and can only sign players who are on a free – which Crooks definitely won’t be – and whose wages are deemed ‘sensible’.

I think many of the Millers fans were expecting clubs to be linked with our players after relegation at the end of last season, in fact, I think many of us thought we’d have already lost key players and Crooks would fit into that category.

The Leeds born player, who scored seven goals for Rotherham last season but gave a lot more than that on the pitch, still has a year to run on his contract at the New York Stadium. Wouldn’t it be good if we could keep him? Though, I do think that probably is a big ‘if’.
