Rotherham United have this afternoon confirmed the retained list for next season.

Staying with the club are Andre Green, Cameron Humphreys, Christ Tiehi, Cohen Bramall, Dillon Phillips, Hakeem Odoffin, Jordan Hugill. Ollie Rathbone, Peter Kioso, Sam Nombe, Tom Eaves and Viktor Johansson are still under contract.

Ben Hatton, Ciaran McGuckin, Hamish Douglas, Jake Hull and Josh Ayres are the young professionals still under contract and stay with the club.

Josh Kayode and Jamie McCart have both been made available for transfer. Jamie joined the Millers in the summer of 2022 spending the second half of his first season on loan at Leyton Orient and then the whole of the season just finished at Oakwell. JJ came through the youth system at Rotherham playing a number of first team games although injury has played a huge part in his game time. He has also had loan spells with Chesterfield, Gateshead, MK Dons and Carlisle where three loan spells with Carlisle where he went back too at the end of the summer transfer deadline but again injuries saw him play in just four games.
All at Vital Rotherham wish the pair ‘all the best’ for their futures.

Andy Rinomhota, Arvin Appiah, Charlie Wyke, Femi Seriki and Seb Revan have all returned to their parent clubs – might we see any of them again in a Rotherham shirt?

Jamie Lindsay and the club are in talks.

Players who are out of contract and leaving the New York Stadium are Cafu, Curtis Durose, Grant Hall, Joel Holvey, Lee Peltier, Nat Ford, Sam Clucas, Sean Morrison, Shane Ferguson, Tolaji Bola and Tyler Blackett.

In my mind there are a few surprises in today’s announcement. Being left with only a dozen pro players and a handful of young professionals means there are a lot of holes to fill – let’s hope they won’t be with square pegs.
