Rotherham United’s last game of the season sees them travel to Priestfield where they take on Gillingham with Samuel Barrott from West Yorkshire in the middle.

Sam became a referee after injury curtailed his football career at the age of fifteen starting in the Huddersfield Junior Football League before moving up to the Huddersfield District League. He made his way up to the National League and in July 2020 was in charge of the play-off between Notts County and Barnet. 2020/1 saw him move up to League One and Two where he took charge of twenty-six games plus FA Cup and Trophy games.

This will be just the second time Sam has been in the middle for a Rotherham game the first being in October in our Papa John’s Trophy game against a Manchester City U21 side at the New York Stadium. Goalless at half-time the Millers took charge of the second half with Will Grigg scoring six minutes in. This was followed by a hat-trick from Kieran Sadlier and Jake Hull getting his second senior goal in a red and white shirt. Sam showed yellow cards to Millers players Curtis Durose, Joshua Kayode. Mackenzie Warne and Sadlier plus Shea Charles of the City team.

Of the thirty-four games Sam has been in charge of this season he has shown one hundred and thirty-four yellow cards and three red cards, the first of those to former Miller’s loanee Farrend Rawson, now playing for Mansfield Town.

Running the line on Saturday we have Conor Farrell and Mark Stevens and the Fourth Official is Gareth Viccars.
