Quick Preview – Millers v Bristol City

|

Rotherham United make the journey down to Ashton Gate to take on Bristol City for their last game before the International break.

The Robins are coming into this game on the back of getting four away points although it’s quite a while since they got anything from a home game the last time being at the end of January against Huddersfield Town.

Having been without games due to the Covid-19 epidemic hitting the club Rotherham’s last away game, against local rivals Sheffield Wednesday, was a two-one win although they lost their home game on Tuesday night to promotion contenders Watford.

Good news for the Robins is that Nathan Baker has trained so could be in the squad and while Dan Bentley is on the mend it’s doubtful he will make it, although both will have late fitness tests.

City Boss Nigel Pearson told their Official Site that he thinks it is very difficult for Rotherham having had playing and coaching staff missing in recent weeks. ‘They are a very hard working side,’ the Robins Boss said, ‘and we expect a tough game. We are aware that our home form need to improve and I’m sure Rotherham will come here intending to make it difficult for us but it would be great to go into this break with a home win.’

The Millers will be without Manager Paul Warne who is self-isolating with his assistant Richie Barker taking over on the touchline. Ben Wiles is a doubt after coming off early on Tuesday night, though it’s hopeful he will be fit although probably won’t start. All the other players came through the game against Watford OK.

Speaking to iFOLLOW the Millers Boss said he can’t determine what the teams around them in the league do and just has to concentrating on Rotherham. ‘We will probably have to win five or six of the remaining games,’ Warney said, ‘and we’ll do everything we can to do that. The lads are desperate to win and I’m expecting a really good performance on Saturday. We need to come away with something and take opportunities when they come but we can’t go in all guns blazing and leave ourselves completely open.’

Matthew Donohue from Greater Manchester is refereeing this game.
