Rotherham United welcome back former Miller Neil Warnock and his Middlesbrough
team to the New York Stadium this evening with ‘Boro sitting just above mid-table of the Championship.

The Millers are in the bottom three but a win tonight would bring them one point away from Derby who are sitting just outside the relegation places. But the last two home games have been one-nil losses with their last home win being three-one against Queens Park Rangers just over a week ago.

Middlesbrough lost at home at the weekend to ten men QPR with their last away game, which was also in South Yorkshire at Oakwell, saw them lose two-nil. ‘Boro’s last away win was at the beginning of March against Coventry.

A few of the Millers players have, what the Manager Paul Warne is calling ‘slight injuries’ and might not make it tonight and, although Joe Mattock is ‘on the mend’ this game will possibly come too early for him. And the hosts will be without Lewis Wing who won’t be available to play against his parent club.

‘I’ve got a lot of time for the Gaffer,’ Warney told the Official Site speaking about Neil Warnock also saying the same about his back-room staff of Ronnie Jepson and Kevin Blackwell, ‘and it will be nice to see them. They are good footballing people. Both teams will be desperate for the points tonight.’

Neil Warnock will be without his first team coach Ronnie Jepson tonight as he is isolating after an overseas scouting trip. Middlesbrough will also be without winger Nathaniel Mendez-Laing who is still out injured

Being his usual honest self, Neil told TeesideLive, ‘I can’t see us beating anybody if we keep making mistakes or not taking chances that you should take on a Sunday league pitch and Rotherham will be quite confident. The goals we’ve conceded in the last four games has been a disgrace.’ His fondness for Rotherham came through when he told the Yorkshire Post, ‘If it wasn’t for Rotherham I would not be sat here now. I went for sixteen games and we were six points adrift. It was an amazing time and gave me enjoyment I thought I’d finished with. Their wage bill does not need telling. The only thing is they have got a good group, manager and backroom staff and the players give everything.’ Neil was at the New York Stadium on Sunday afternoon but left before Birmingham scored and said, ‘I don’t know how they lost that game and I saw another couple of games where I could not believe they lost.’

Tonight’s referee is Darren Bond from Lancashire.
