Rotherham United’s first game of 2021 sees Cardiff City the visitors at the New York Stadium.

The Millers come into this game in the relegation places although they have games in hand, but, of course they have to win those games. The last home game saw neighbours Barnsley go away with all three points after a two-one win.

Fifteenth placed Cardiff City have lost their last two away games, the last one being on Tuesday night against Wycombe Wanderers. Manager Neil Harris was sent-off in the game but will be allowed on the touchline this afternoon.

Paul Warne is hoping to have another three players available for this afternoon’s game although it is unclear whether they will be fit enough to start the game.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield the Millers’ Boss said that if he’s being fair he thinks that Cardiff have been good in parts but not as good as they’d like in others. ‘They’ve struggled a bit with results lately but all teams go through that and they have been on the wrong side of a couple of results recently. They’ve missed Kieffer Moore but Will Vaulks has been scoring and he gets under the opposition’s skin. But we need to turn in some better performances and collect more points.’

The Bluebirds will be without defender Sean Morrison who is awaiting a scan on a foot injury.

‘We went on a four game winning run,’ City Manager Neil Harris told their Official Site, ‘but now we’ve lost three in a row and what we want is consistency. They (Rotherham) are the biggest side in the division and we need to impose ourselves on them.’

The referee for this game is Geoff Eltingham from County Durham.
