The January deadline day sees Rotherham United win the signature of Bailey Wright from Sunderland.

With it being reported that other clubs, including Portsmouth, were in for the centre-back, the Millers won the race with the Australian signing on loan until the end of the season.

Born in Melbourne, Bailey played his youth football with various Australian sides before moving to England and signing a two year scholarship with Preston North End in 2009. The following season he played in two cup games before coming off the bench in two Championship games and went on to make more than two hundred appearances including a League One Play-Off Final at Wembley and games against Rotherham.

January 2017 saw him move to Bristol City taking over the captains armband the following season going out on loan to Sunderland in January 2020 signing a permanent deal with them when his contract at Ashton Gate ended in the August. He has been involved in one hundred and six games for the Black Cats, seventeen of those this season.

Bailey has a number of International caps for Australia his last one being in a World Cup game in November 2022.

All at Vital Rotherham welcome Bailey to the New York Stadium.
