Rotherham United Manager Matt Taylor told the Official Site that the Deadline Transfer Day is never done until the ink is dry on the contracts.

Saying they had two who they thought had ‘verbally agreed to come’ yesterday let them down the Millers Boss says they are still working to fetch players in and ‘hoping it doesn’t go to the wire and we have hours to spare.’

‘We are hopeful, and positive, of what we can achieve today,’ Matt said at tea-time. ‘First and foremost we are looking to add to the defence and then the midfield, where we want a slightly different dynamic. We’ve got a lot of good solid players in there but we need to add some creation, some pace and a little bit of power.’

Asked about people leaving the club, Matt said, ‘There’s always a chance. We’ve not had any direct offers recently for any of our players although we have had enquires regarding loans. But that’s down to how the players see their game time at this football club in the last eighteen games and how I see their game time. The logistic side of football always plays it’s part and it’s going to be an interesting few hours.’

He also said that he’s under no pressure to sell any of the players. ‘If we sell, we sell for the right reasons and the right deal for the club and the player,’ he said. ‘But we are still in the relegation battle we were a few weeks ago and we want to keep our good players and add to build around them.’

Well, our Manager might think it’s going to be an ‘interesting few hours’ but for us fans its more agonising. I, for one, will be pleased when it’s 11pm!

Up The Millers.
