Millers Boss After Tonight’s Game

|

Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne was really pleased to get the three points this evening against Lincoln City at the New York Stadium but admitted it was nerve racking for the last minutes of the game.

Speaking to IFollow after the two-one win the Millers Boss said, ‘I thought we were excellent in the first half and the best we’ve been for many a week.

‘But I warned the lads at half time that if they (Lincoln) got the next goal their tails will be up. Then JJ (Joshua Kayode) blew up (Ed Note – not literally you understand) and we have no other strikers at the club so we had to change out system. Then Ollie’s (Rathbone) quod tightened up and Dan Barlaser got a tight groin we were forced into changes. Then the opposition had the ascendency and it was all them. I would have enjoyed a more enjoyable second half than what I got but it is what it is. I think, when I watch the game back and because I know the score, it will look a lot more comfortable than it felt.’

I’m not sure about that Warney. I also thought we were great in the first half, couldn’t fault them, and, for good reasons, couldn’t have picked a man of the match. But we came out huffing and puffing in the second half and once Rathbone and Barlaser went off and we tried to play out from the back my heart sank and I was just waiting for Lincoln to score. Luckily they only got one and we can go on our merry way and get ready for Shrewsbury at the weekend.

‘It is tough to win every single game here for us,’ the Millers Boss carried on, ‘The lads are jaded, they are tired and they need all the support from everybody in here and, fortunately tonight, we just had enough to get through. The crowd help massively. I wanted to get energy into the players and if you are at home you can get that from the stands. ‘

So we have to keep on shouting, keep on encouraging, keep on supporting – Our Club Needs Us.

There was some bad news coming after the game that both Ollie Rathbone and Dan Barlaser are injured, Ollie probably being the worse of the two and probably won’t be available for Saturday. It’s bad news for us this and these two are very important players for the Millers plus the injuries are mounting up.
