Rotherham United took on Lincoln City at the New York Stadium last night when it was definitely a ‘game of two halves’ with the Millers winning two-one.
But what about those stats?
The first one is a bit of a surprise to me with it being that the Millers only had thirty-eight per cent of the possession. I do realise that we were pushed further back in the second half but surely we had more than that? Me, I’d have said Lincoln just edged it.
We won fifty-eight per cent of the duels in the air and had six corners twice as many as our visitors. Our passing accuracy in our opponents half came out at sixty-two per cent, Lincoln’s was sixty-one per cent while the accuracy of our crosses was twenty-six per cent to the Imps’ ten.
Attack wise we had thirteen shots at goal of which seven were on target with six of those shots coming from outside the box. Lincoln had three shots on target from ten.
Rotherham conceded fifteen fouls to City’s twelve with both sides having two players booked.
All in all the Millers started the game so well it seemed impossible for us Rotherham fans to see City getting a look in, and it could well have been three- or four-nil at half-time. Then, so to speak, the wheels stopped going round and we found ourselves with our backs against the wall in the second half and when Lincoln scored it made it a very uncomfortable fifteen minutes for our fans in the stands. And saying that it could well turn out to be a very good three points earned.
