Rotherham United Goalkeeper Josh Vickers will be at the New York Stadium until 2023 after he signed a new two year deal.

The twenty-five year old signed for the Millers in November last year on a deal until the end of season. Before joining Rotherham he came through the Arsenal Youth system joining Swansea City in the summer of 2015. June 2017 saw him move on to League Two side Lincoln City, his first team appearance being in an EFL tie at the New York Stadium against the Millers. He went on to play over eighty games for the Imps helping them to League One for the start of the 2019/20 season.

Josh had stiff competition last season with Victor Johansson and/or Jamal Blackman on good form but this year it looks like he will be in direct competition with Johansson.

Speaking to the Official Site Josh said it was a ‘no brainer’ to sign a new contract with Rotherham saying that he’s also delighted to be working with the Millers’ Goalkeeping Coach Andy Warrington who he knew previously from his time at Sincil Bank. Saying he was looking forward to competing for the number one spot, Josh saying, ‘It’s a new year and a new challenge and we are looking forward to progressing with the aim being to finish as high as we can.’
