Rotherham United have, at present count, seven players out on loan to other clubs – but how are they getting on?

Joshua Kayode is currently on loan with League One side Carlisle United. JJ made five appearances for the Millers this season, scoring against Morecambe, in the League Cup, before joining the Cumbrians on 1st September. He played just over an hour a few days into his loan spell away at Accrington in a Football League Trophy game and just a little less four days later in a two-all away game at Stevenage where he got a series shoulder injury which saw the twenty-three year old forward side-lined for four months. Unfortunately he sustained a calf injury at the beginning of the year and is still out injured and back with the Millers until he can play again.

Scottish defender Jamie McCart has been on loan with South Yorkshire neighbours since the end of August. He managed one substitute appearance and two League Cup games for Rotherham before joining the League One outfit. He has made twenty-four appearances for the Tykes helping them keep seven clean sheets in all competitions.

Defender Tolaji Bola made two appearances in both the League Cup and Championship for Rotherham before joining Burton Albion on loan towards the end of the January Transfer Window. The twenty-five year old has been involved in nine games for the Brewers starting eight of them.

Another defender Jake Hull is currently on loan with Vanarama National League North club Buxton, joining at the beginning of the season. He has played in excess of twenty-eight times scoring once with a header but it seems he’s had a few niggly injuries since being there which has curtailed his appearances for the Bucks.

January saw Curtis Durose join Matlock Town in the Northern Premier League and has scored once in four games. Some games, since he joined, have been called off due to waterlogged/frozen pitches.

Both Hamish Douglas and Joel Holvey are currently playing with Gainsborough Trinity in the Northern Premier League. Defender Hamish joined in September and a month after midfielder Joel, both extending their stay in January until the end of the season with both making over twenty appearances and adding a couple of goals each.

Ciaran McGuckin came off the bench four times for Rotherham while playing the whole ninety minutes against Stoke in the League Cup game during August and spent the next five months on the bench. 1st February saw the twenty year old striker join League of Ireland Premier Division side Dundalk until the end of the season and has made four appearances, three of those off the subs bench.

Some of our loaned out players are in action at the weekend – Douglas and Holvey are at home against Workington for Gainsborough, Durose’s Matlock will be facing Whitby Town at home, Buxton and Jake Hull have a long trip to Southport, Burton Albion, with Bola, welcome Port Vale to the Pirelli Stadium while Carlisle are also at home with Stevenage the visitors, although it is very doubtful that JJ will be fit to play.

Thanks to Mikemiller on our forum for keeping us up to date with the exploits of our loaned our lads.
