Florian Signs In

|

Rotherham United have delved into the transfer market and brought in Florian Jozefzoon from Derby County – subject to EFL and FA ratification

Born in French Guiana winger Florian began his career in the Netherlands, where his family moved to when he was a young child, with Ajax and made his first team debut in 2010 coming off the bench at half-time at home to Vitesse Arn. He went on to feature in three more games and the following season went out on loan to NAC Breda.

July 2012 saw him join RKC Waalwijk and the following season he was on the move again this time to PSV making twenty appearances in the Dutch Eredivisie and Europa League while also helping them to win the division. An anterior cruciate ligament injury saw his appearances limited after that and he left the club in 2017 to move to England with Brentford.

In his first season with the Bees he made nineteen appearances including one against the Millers at Griffin Park and the following season scored seven goals in forty-three games.

After originally rejecting a bid from Derby County, Brentford eventually accepted £2.75m for the winger in July 2018 playing thirty-four times, playing at the New York Stadium in the Millers one-nil win over the Rams in the September. Last season the twenty-nine year old made fourteen appearances for Derby but hasn’t featured this season.

Florian has caps for the Netherlands at U19 and U21 levels and has signed a deal that keeps him at the New York Stadium until the end of this season.

All at Vital Rotherham welcome Florian to the New York Stadium.
