Rotherham United have recalled striker Jerry Yates from his loan spell with Swindon Town with the twenty-three year old joining training on Thursday with the Millers.

After spending time with his home club Doncaster Rovers Jerry joined Rotherham in his early teens signing his first professional contract in 2014 coming off the bench in April 2015 for his first game away at Birmingham City in the Championship.

The following season saw him make twenty-three appearances for the Millers scoring three goals, two in the EFL Cup his first league goal coming at the New York Stadium in our two-one win over Norwich City in January 2017.

Jerry played another twenty games the following season for Rotherham before having a successful loan spell with Carlisle United last season and an equally successful spell with Swindon this season where he has scored thirteen times in twenty-nine games.

So, will Jerry get in the squad for our game away at Peterborough on Saturday or will he be on his way elsewhere?

I know they were hoping to hang on to him at Swindon, both fans and management and he has done well for them. I’m a bit puzzled at why he’s back here I’ll be honest. We have a lot of strikers on the books – the top goal scorer can’t even get a start at the moment! Unless, of course, there are injuries we don’t know about. I reckon Jerry will be on the bench on Saturday and then he’ll be out on loan to a League One side – but those are only the thoughts in my head.

you know I am happy he,s been recalled but I dont like what warney is saying about having a look at him.how many looks does he want. he,s had him long enough to know what he.s like now he,s saying he could send him out again in this transfer window. thats not fair on Jerry he wont know if hes. coming or going he would have been better off leaving him at swindon I dont kwow Jerry is thinking is head but ithink he could be well peed off

I thought the same about JJ when he was brought back from Gateshead but I could understand that our club want their player to try League football. Yates has been playing League football so, unless we are expecting to play him, or he is going to a club higher than Swindon I think it’s ‘a bit naughty’ of us to be honest. And don’t worry about the spellings etc CinL, you are understandable! And if I ever need an ex lorry driver I know where to come!

  • carlton in lindrick says:

sorry about any miss spellings and missed words caz english not a subject for retired ex lorry driver.
