Vital Rotherham’s Man of the Match for January is Shane Ferguson.
The Northern Ireland International joined the Millers last summer making thirty-one appearances in all competitions, seven of those appearances coming in the first month of 2022 of which the game against Bolton Wanderers at the New York Stadium on New Years day was probably his best, so far, in a Millers shirt. Not unsurprisingly he was voted our Man of the Match in that game.
Kieran Sadlier who joined Bolton on a two-and-a-half year deal in the January window, was voted the Man of the Match in our four-two win at Crewe in the Papa John’s Trophy while goalkeeper Josh Vickers got the award in the FA Cup game at Loftus Road where we took Queens Park Rangers to a penalty shoot-out which they won eight-seven. In our League game away at Fleetwood Dan Barlaser got the accolade while skipper Richard Wood was the winner at home to Charlton Athletic. Back to the Trophy which saw Cambridge the visitors to the New York Stadium and Michael Ihiekwe voted Man of the Match and the last game of the month was our two-nil win away at Crewe where Michael Smith got the first and was voted Man of the Match.
When, like this month, we have played seven games and every game a different player was voted Man of the Match we take our shoes and socks off and add up the votes which is why our left-sided player, Shane, gets the award for January.
Well Done Shane!
