The Stats – Millers At Home To Stanley

|

Rotherham United got a one-nil win at home to Accrington Stanley yesterday with Manager Paul Warne saying we had to hang on.

Yes, maybe we did but what do the stats tell us?

The possession came out equal, fifty per cent each, with Stanley winning the aerial duels with fifty-nine per cent (not really surprising as they are quite a big team). Corners were in short supply yesterday with just seven in the game, the Millers having five of those while our passing accuracy in our opponents half came out at fifty-one per cent and sixty per cent all over the pitch.

Attack wise we had eleven shots at goal, six of those from outside the box, four of which were on target. Accrington had seven shots on target from fourteen (Really?)

Both teams committed fourteen fouls – although some were ‘more fouls’ than others – with the Millers seeing three yellow cards and one red card to the visitors four yellow cards.

All in all it was another three points and a hard fought win against a tough Accrington side on a windy day with no help from the man with the whistle.

But I also want to mention the comrade that we have in our team – the first player to come on the pitch at the whistle and celebrate the win/penalty save with Josh Vickers was Viktor Johansson, the man who is ‘fighting’ for the same place.  Brilliant.
