Rotherham United took an early lead at home against Hull City but couldn’t hold on losing to two second half goals.
But what about the stats?
The Millers had forty per cent of possession and won forty-nine per cent of all the duel and fifty-three per cent of the aerial duels. Of the thirteen corners Rotherham won four. Our passing accuracy in our opponents half came out at fifty-seven per cent, with City’s seventy per cent.
In attack we had eleven shots at goal, of which seven were inside the box, and six of those shots on target while our visitors had eight on target from twenty shots.
Defence wise our tackle success rate was sixty-two per cent, two per cent worse than Hull’s and the Millers conceded twice as many fouls as Hull – thirteen to six – with two yellow cards going to the home side and one to the away.
I thought we looked a much better team last night – we started going forward from the off and it worked with a four minute goal. Sam Nombe and Charlie Wyke clicked straight away with Seb Revan and Peter Kioso backing them up with some good passing. Hull got back in the game around the thirty minute mark, in my opinion, but we defended well and got the ball away from our goalmouth. And we had Viktor Johansson in goal. It was disappointing not to get anything from the game but I, for one, came away with a positive vibe – and, yes, it might be too late to save the season but if we’re looking to the future we looked a lot better than we have of late.
