Rotherham United came away from Elland Road with nothing yesterday afternoon with Leeds United winning three-nil – and, to be fair, it probably could have been more.
But what about the stats?
The Millers had forty-one per cent of possession (yes, I was a little surprised at that too) and won the duels by six per cent and the aerial duels fifty-four per cent to Leeds’s forty-six per cent, though, of the eight corners, Rotherham won three.
Our passing accuracy in our opponents half was sixty per cent – the hosts fifteen per cent better with our crossing accuracy coming out at seventeen per cent, Leeds thirty-three.
In attack we had seven shots at goal, three from outside the box and two on target. Leeds had six on target from nineteen shots.
Defence-wise our tackle success rate was five per cent worse than our opponents at fifty-five per cent while Leeds gave away thirteen tackles to our eleven and the only two yellow cards of the game went to Rotherham players.
It was far from pretty yesterday from the Millers but, if I’m being fair, we looked better when our subs came on. And, yes, I think we have a right to moan at the officials a bit – that first goal was so obviously elbowed in, OK Mr Madley might not have been in a position to see it but what about the man with the flag? He just seemed oblivious to what was going on. Plus the player himself more or less admitted it. (Maybe a case for VAR here!) And the penalty? It was very soft wasn’t it. But, saying that, Leeds were the better team from start to finish and, lets be honest, could have been six up at half-time.
