Rotherham United Head Coach Leam Richardson congratulated Leeds United on their win over the Millers today but wasn’t impressed with their first goal.

Speaking after the three-nil defeat Leam spoke to Radio Sheffield saying , ‘It’s always a tough place to come too anyway but the first goal was a blatant hand-ball. If you get decisions like that against you, which, for me, was an easy decision then you are up against it.

‘I thought we started the game terrifically well and took the onus to them but then the big decision went against us and it was an uphill challenge from there.

‘Andy (Madley) is a good ref but he needs help from his officials. He told me he ‘didn’t want to guess’ . The decision hasn’t cost us the result but it’s played a huge part towards it. But we aren’t kidding ourselves. You’re coming to Elland Road with a plethora of offensive players and if they counter on you, they are going to hurt you.’

Asked what he wanted more of from his players, Leam said, ‘More belief.

‘We got into some really offensive positions but then we don’t take care of the ball enough.

‘When I came here it we had a challenge above us but we had a choice and either make a fist of it or roll over and go around the country not giving a good account of ourselves which is not what we are doing. In large parts we’ve had good, strong performances from what, as a group, we have available and we’ll continue to do that.’

Cameron Humphreys played his first minutes for nearly five months, coming on for the last ten minutes which Leam said was ‘huge’ saying, ‘Since I arrived we’ve run with one fit centre-half and although Moz (Sean Morrison) has done extremely well to have another centre-half fit and available is very welcome.’
