Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne said that although this afternoon’s result against Wolverhampton Wanderers wasn’t great his teams performance was very good.

Speaking to MillersPlayer after the one-nil defeat at Molineux this afternoon Warney said, ‘I thought we were the better team.

‘The way we set up I thought I knew that we would create chances and we’d worked on how to stop their play and frustrate them so we were well prepared for this game.

‘I told them that there were ten cup finals left and this was the first one so go out and prove to people we can play at this level. The lads were really well motivated and I said to them before hand that’s the best I’ve ever seen a team warm up.

‘We created three really good chances and the one at the end would have got us a really good point on the road.

‘All my substitutions were tactical and I did all I could to get an away win for the travelling fans.

‘It was a really good performance away from home and we didn’t deserve to lose. I thought we competed well.’

I’m really pleased Warney did think it was a good performance today – but to me it was two poor teams out there with the only goal of the game more or less being given.
