RUFC – Should We Be Looking At Life Without Kieffer?

Rotherham United are still hoping that they will get striker Kieffer Moore back, after putting in an improved bid to Ipswich Town.

But it’s been reported that we do have competition for the twenty-five year old and rightly so after proving what he can do while on loan with the Millers for the first half of the season.

So, if things go pear-shaped and Kieffer goes elsewhere what will the Millers do? Should we be looking for ‘life without the big man’.

Well, looking at our games when the Ipswich striker wasn’t playing for us things didn’t look so bad did they? We had David Ball up front with Jerry Yates and they did OK. On New Year’s Day Yates was replaced by Jonson Clarke-Harris around the hour mark and there’s no denying that the lad did well. But is ‘well’ good enough?

Millers Boss Paul Warne has already said if we don’t get Kieffer he has his eyes on other strikers. Presumably these ‘others’ are in the same mold as the tall forward. I’ve had a quick browse at strikers who might be out there and none really seem to have the same characteristics as Kieffer Moore.

In fact, the only one who really caught my eye is a young lad who belongs to Leeds United but has been out on loan with Accrington Stanley – Mallik Wilks.

Mallik, who came through the Youth ranks at Elland Road, is six feet tall who turned ninenteen in December and who Leeds think enough about to have given him a four year contract last summer.

In November it was reported that there were Premier League clubs showing an interest in the forward.

It looks like Leeds brought him back from Accrington and are looking for a club in a higher league to get more football.

Could that club be Rotherham? Is he someone who might bring something to the Millers? Do we actually need to fetch another striker in? Personally, I think he’s someone to keep an eye on.

Yes I read that too, apparently that’s the starting level, so does that mean that we have not offered that sort of money as we have no conformation that our offer has been accepted ?

I never know what to believe when figures are being bandied about – surely a club wouldn’t say ‘we’ve bid so-and-so’ to let other clubs know what they’ve got to beat to get the player?
