Rotherham United take a team to play NCEL Premier side, Dinnington Town, tomorrow evening at Phoenix Park

Dinnington finished 12th in the NCEL Premier League last season with forty-nine points from thirty-eight games.

Dinnington Town Football Club was formed in the year 2000 although it had other names before this.
Between 1908 and 1914 Dinnington Main played football on a field owned by the colliery before moving to the Colliery Institute grounds when they were opened in 1909.
Between 1914 and 1919 the club became known as Dinnington Colliery and, after the war, Dinnington Main Colliery were born and were promoted to the Sheffield Association League in 1921.
In 1928 the name was changed again and the club became Dinnington Athletic and in 1932 they won the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup and in the 1934/35 season they finally reached the first round proper of the FA Cup where they got to play Chester City, who, at the time, were one of the leading clubs in the Third Division North of the Football League. Dinnington lost the game 3-1 but weren`t disgraced in front of a crowd of 6,782. In 1936/37 Dinnington were allowed to enter the Yorkshire League and in 1969/70 won the second division title.
In 1976 the club reverted back to Dinnington Colliery and played in the Midland League but, in 1985, sadly the club folded.

In friendly games, already played, Dinnington have beaten a Sheffield Wednesday XI, 2-0 and Teversal 1-0.
