With the Millers losing 2-1 to a lively Leicester City, all the lights went out at Don Valley this evening and the game was abandoned.

A goal on ten minutes from Paul Gallagher followed by an Adam Le Fondre penalty saw the teams go in one all at half time.

The visitors were the first out of the blocks when Andy Warrington did well to tip a Paul Gallagher effort round the post and minutes later DJ Campbell had a header that just went past the same post. As the Millers seem to settle, Adam Le Fondre made a fair tackle on Foxes ‘keeper Chris Weale who was taking a rather long time on the ball but Weale did well to keep the ball from Le Fondre`s feet. On ten minutes City took the lead when a header from Steve Howard found Gallagher and he slipped the ball in the net from a few yards out. It took the Millers eight minutes to get onto equal terms and it was Weale again who was involved in the action. As Tom Elliott was chasing a long ball, Weale barged into him and the referee pointed to the penalty spot. Up stepped Le Fondre and duly put the ball into the net for the equaliser. Andy King nearly put the Foxes back into the lead straight away but he headed just over and just after the half hour mark, Gallagher had a shot deflected wide. Le Fondre should have scored ten minutes before half-time but he scuffed his shot and Weale did well to get down and save.

The second half was only minutes old when Le Fondre played a good ball through to Elliott who shot from some twenty yards out but saw the ball bounce off the post and cleared. Leicester took the lead again on the hour mark John played the ball into the path of Campbell and he left Warrington with no chance as he smashed the ball into the corner of the net. A few minutes later, Danny Harrison, on for Bradley, was through on goal but put the ball wide and then, he got on the end of a Le Fondre cross but missed the target.

And, that was that. The Don Valley floodlights failed and the game ended as a two-one victory to the Foxes.

Tom Elliot and Le Fondre seem to have an understanding and gelled together well – could this be the partnership that gets the Millers out of League Two?
