Rotherham United’s former Manager and Player Ronnie Moore has been named the favourite to take over at non-league side Hartlepool United.

A legend amongst the Millmoor faithful striker Ronnie racked up over one hundred and twenty appearances in a Millers shirt scoring more than fifty goals before moving south to join Charlton Athletic coming back as Rotherham Manager twice, firstly from May 1997 until January 2005 where he got consecutive promotions and again from September 2009 to March 2011.

Besides the two stints with Rotherham the now nearly seventy-one year old managed Southport, Oldham Athletic, Tranmere Rovers (twice), Hartlepool from 2014 to 2016 and had three months with Eastleigh in 2016.

Hartlepool have been without a manager since John Askey was dismissed in December.  But is this the right job to tempt Ronnie Moore back into management?  I don’t know but I don’t think he would dismiss the suggestion without thinking long and hard about it.

Yes he would do a good job. Ronnie has a lot of contacts to bring good players in to do a good job. He is the man for the job at this moment in time to sort players out and get them playing again.
