Rotherham United defender Hakeem Odoffin said that Saturdays home loss to Stoke was a game that could have gone either way.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the one-nil loss the twenty-five year old said that he couldn’t fault his team mates effort saying, ‘It was one of those games where I thought if we got the first goal we’d probably go on to win it.’

The goal came into time added on at the end of the first half – a cracking free-kick to be fair – but you could feel the frustration around three sides of the ground and it must have been the same for the players and management.

‘You have to brush it off,’ Haks said, ‘but then it’s on us and I still felt we could have got something out of the game. At times I felt we built well but it was just getting those finishing touches and we know we have to score goals to win games.

‘We are good enough players to play at this level and it’s on us to turn things around and I’m sure we’re more than capable to do that.’

Asked about his role in the back three, Haks said, ‘I enjoy playing centre-back and I’m more than capable of playing there.

‘I don’t try to get too high or too low, I’m more focused on getting results which is the most important thing. I’m not thinking too much about me, I’m thinking about us as a team. It’s important that we can put all these little good performances all around the pitch together so we can get a positive result.

‘We are disappointed but we put in a lot during the week and we’re going to do the exact same to get a result next week. I’m in that dressing room, on the training pitch and I know we are going to turn things around.’

This is the belief we need. Haks is a leader puts in 100% on and off pitch….come on Millers

He certainly does, Mike. And it’s a good statement for anyone thinking about joining the Millers too isn’t it.
