Rotherham United have today announced that both Head Coach Leam Richardson and his assistant Rob Kelly have left the club.

Forty-four year old Leam was appointed Head Coach in December signing a three and a half year deal and four days later brought in Rob as his number two.

Leam oversaw twenty-four games winning two and drawing four. After sitting at the bottom of the Championship for many weeks the Millers were finally relegated on 5th April after a one-nil home loss against Plymouth Argyle.

It’s been a torrid season for Millers fans seeing their team rarely out of the bottom three and having seen just four victories all season and being knocked out of both the League and FA Cups early in the competitions.

The club statement says – Everyone at Rotherham United would like to thank Leam and Rob for all their efforts and wish them well for the future.  The search to appoint a new first team manager is already under way, with further communication to follow in due course.

Am I surprised at the announcement? Yes, with the timing but, let’s be honest, nice as he may be Leam Richardson hasn’t pulled up any trees has he.

Our next game is at home on Saturday when fellow strugglers, Birmingham City, are our visitors.

Who will be in the dugout is anyone’s guess.
