Rotherham United Head Coach Leam Richardson saw his first foray into a cup game with the Millers end in defeat.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the one-nil loss away against Premier League Fulham in the FA Cup, the Millers Boss was disappointed at losing saying, ‘in large parts we contained them when we could.’

I don’t think we disgraced ourselves tonight and, although Fulham were obviously the better side, I thought if we’d have pulled a late goal back we’d have shocked them and might have done a little more than bring them back to the New York Stadium for a replay.

But, that wasn’t to be and Leam carried on, ‘in the second half I thought we were better and we grew up the pitch a little bit. But we’ve got to be better getting the ball in and have got to have those moments of quality in the final third. We scored a goal that was narrowly offside and we had other moments which in these surroundings you have to make them count.

‘We wanted to be in the game after an hour and then up our levels, which we did. But you have to be respectful of the quality of the opposition and credit to them, they did nullify us in a lot of ways.

‘But credit to the players for working as hard as they did.

‘Congratulations to Fulham and we wish them well in the next round.’

Any injuries? Cohen Bramall rolled his ankle and after treatment tried to carry on but had to go off just before the hour mark with Leam saying it was more a precaution than anything.
