Rotherham United make the long journey to Home Park to take on Plymouth Argyle in the first of two away league games this week.

Sitting in top spot in League One the Millers come into this game on the back of a two-nil home win against Morecambe. Their last away game was also a two-nil win against neighbours Sheffield Wednesday, the last away loss being in mid-January at Fleetwood.

The Pilgrims last two games have also ended two-nil a win at Gillingham last weekend but a Tuesday night defeat away at Cambridge United saw their four game winning run come to an end. Sitting in fifth place in the table Plymouth’s last home game was a one-nil win over Shrewsbury Town with their last defeat at Home Park saw Lincoln City come from behind to win two-one in January.

Speaking to PlymouthLive Argyle Manager  Steven Schumacher is hoping to turn Home Park into a fortress saying they have to be organised against Rotherham. ‘The team at the top of the League coming to your place is always exciting,’ he said. ‘They are a powerful team with good players all over the pitch who are Championship players in my opinion. We have got to have our wits about us defensively but also the belief that we can cause them problems.’

After missing the game in midweek Plymouth are hoping Joe Edwards will be fit for this game but are without long term injured Brendan Galloway, George Cooper and Dan Scarr.

Millers Manager Paul Warne told Radio Sheffield said that the long journey will affect preparation for this game saying they will train in the morning but try to get to Plymouth in time for tea going on to talk about Argyle saying, ‘They have massive attendances and it is a difficult place to go and play. They have been good at home with the change in manager not having an effect on them. They are a possession based team, a good footballing side and are on good form but so are we but they will think they’ve got a good chance to beat us.’

Rotherham have no new injury worries although there is some fatigue in the squad. After coming off the bench on Tuesday Angus MacDonald might get a start and it could be that Richard Wood makes way for Joe Mattock in the starting eleven. If it was necessary Rarmani Edmunds-Green could start on the bench after injury but it probably won’t happen. There could also be some more game time for young Arsenal loanee Jordi Osei-Tutu.

Will Finnie from Luton has the whistle for this game.
