Rotherham United’s Assistant Manager Richie Barker has admitted that defender Curtis Tilt is ‘on the list’ regarding people the club are keeping an eye on but no approach to his parent club Blackpool has been made.

The twenty-seven-year-old defender, who has also been linked with Portsmouth, moved to Bloomfield Road from Wrexham in 2017 and has made eighty-seven appearances for the Tangerines including forty-two last season when he helped out with four goals.

Earlier today Head of Recruitment Rob Scott told the Official Site that the club won’t be ‘focussing too much energy outside the UK but we are looking at options in Scotland and we are looking further afield in Europe.’ (Ed Note – not quite sure when Europe became part of the UK but then again anything could happen these days!)

I can quite understand that the club want to concentrate nearer to home for players mainly so they can possibly get out and watch them easier than having to travel abroad. But, it would be a shame if there was a young player out in Germany that could do us a job that we don’t keep in mind that could be watched while the Millers are out there on their summer camp.

Meanwhile, as we are thinking of players it looks like Joe Newell will be off to pastures new. After four years at the New York Stadium the twenty-six year old left a message on the Official Site saying ‘I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Rotherham and I leave with a heavy heart. I didn’t take the decision lightly but I feel it’s time for a fresh start.’

Joe played over one hundred and forty times in a Millers shirt, helping the Millers get to the League One Play-Off Final after scoring in the semis.
