Rotherham United’s next league game sees them make the short trip to take on neighbours Doncaster Rovers at the Keepmoat Stadium this evening.

Rovers are sitting bottom of the table due to an inferior goal difference to Gillingham while the Millers moved back into top position on Saturday.

The Millers last away game, at the weekend, was a two-nil win over Crewe Alexandra while Rovers were at home on Saturday letting a one goal lead slip with Plymouth Argyle winning three-one.

Doncaster Manager Gary McSheffrey also spoke to Radio Sheffield saying that his team had plenty of chances against Plymouth at the weekend and hopes to take that in to tonight’s game saying, ‘Rotherham have got promoted out of this league on the last two occasions and they are well organised with some good experienced pro’s. They can run all over the pitch and have got target men who can mix their game up but with a manager who has been in charge for five years you’d expect that. They are a well run unit and it’s going to be a tough game but I don’t think they will be coming here and taking us lightly.’

Rovers will be without Tom Anderson, Dan Gardner, Ben Close, Jon Taylor, John Bostock, Cameron John and Fejiri Okenabirhie who are all on the injured list but former Miller Kieran Agard, who joined Rovers earlier this month, could come into contention as could recent signing Adam Clayton who both came off the bench on Saturday. Rovers have made a number of other signings in the last week including West Ham forward Mipo Odubeko on loan, defender Ben Jackson on loan from Huddersfield Town and striker Reo Griffiths from Olympique Lyon who might be included in the squad.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield Millers Manager Paul Warne said, ‘They’ve (Doncaster) got new management in place and have signed virtually a new team and they are  definitely holding a much more attacking threat than they have done in previous games. I know how much they want to win and the fact that it’s us playing might add more to it but I’ve said to the lads that if you want to get promoted, these are the games you have to win. I don’t look forward to derby games – big games as a player you want to play in, big games as a manager it feels like you’ve got everything to lose. And I do appreciate the difficulties of the game ahead.’

Rotherham will be without Rarmani Edmonds-Green who suffered a hamstring injury in the win over Crewe at the weekend. The Millers brought in Irish striker Georgie Kelly but it’s doubtful he will be deemed fit enough for this game and the same can be said about deadline loan signing Jordi Osei-Tutu who is still receiving treatment with his parent club Arsenal.

The referee for this game is Scott Oldham from Lancashire.
