Rotherham United’s next pre-season friendly sees them make the short journey into Derbyshire to the Proact Stadium where they take on Chesterfield.
The last time the Millers were at the Proact was in August 2012 in League Two where goals from Jordan Bowery for Chesterfield after three minutes and Kayode Odejayi six minutes into the second half gave both sides a share of the points.
The first time the pair met at this stadium was when it went under the name of the B2Net and it was a disastrous Friday evening for the Millers in March 2011 when they took a five-nil beating in front of the Sky camera’s. Dean Holden, Craig Davies and Jack Lester put the home side three-up going into the break with Jack Lester getting his hat-trick by the eighty-third minute. It led then Millers Manager Ronnie Moore to come out with the ‘If I’d had a gun I’d have shot them’. Four days later he was ‘relieved of his duties.
The teams were involved in a friendly two years ago (2017) at the Proact Stadium which was a three-one victory for Rotherham goals coming from David Ball, Jon Taylor and Ryan Williams.
The last time the pair met was at the New York Stadium in the Football League Trophy in October 2017. Diego De Girolamo opened the scoring for the visitors on just nine minutes with Will Vaulks getting an equaliser with twenty minutes to go. But in the last minute of the game Jak McCourt got the winner for the Spireites.
